With the hype of the holidays, traveling, and two sick kids, I haven't had time much lately to blog. Ever since Thanksgiving, it's pretty much been one big flurry of activities (no, not snow). In fact, we have zero snow, which is crazy to me. I can't recall many Christmas's with no snow. There must be something to that Global Warming – Just watched An Inconvenient Truth (watch the trailer here) - What an eye-opener!! It's really mind-boggling and scary to see how we are impacting our Mother Earth with all our consumption and waste.
Anyway, getting back to my main goal here which is to share about our fun, eventful and crazy December.
First of all, I have to say that having kids really brings out the holiday spirit in everyone. It's like being a kid all over again watching them with all there excitement seeing aunts and uncles, cousins and Grandpa and Grandma, one huge meal after another and having pie after every one, playing games, and of course the drama and excitement of Santa and opening presents at Christmas.
Thanksgiving
We shared Thanksgiving with the Hennen's. The highlight at Thanksgiving was going bowling after dinner with everyone – Grandpa and Grandma live right across the street from the bowling alley – this might have to become an annual tradition because it was so much fun (you can watch the video by clicking picture to the right). Joshua even has his own signature bowling move. Both Audrey and Joshua also have discovered a love of pumpkin pie like no one else. And, everyone loves feeding it to them because their expressions are priceless as they wait for the next bite :)
Our Annual Florida Vacation
The week before Christmas we headed down to our timeshare in Florida. The weather was beautiful – sunny and 80 the whole time. We enjoyed the new River Island pool complex at the resort every day. Our schedule was essentially get up, go to the pool, eat lunch, take a LONG nap to recover from all that swimming and fresh air, and then head to the mall to the Playmobil Funpark at the Florida mall which is really cool!! We had a great time on our vacation, but we were glad to come home. Joshua and Audrey missed their toys, their own beds, and their routines. And, Santa was coming, so we NEEDED to get home!!
Christmas
Joshua definitely understood that Santa was coming this year. However, we pumped him up for so long that when it actually happened, I think he was a little awestruck by it all. Audrey was more concerned with taste-testing all of the bows and wrapping paper this Christmas. She also loves tape.
We celebrated Christmas Eve with the Aney's at Tom and Karen's and they have an ice rink in their back yard – how COOL is that!! Hocky is pretty big in the Aney family and Josh fits right in with his enthusiasm for the game whether it be skating, sending people to the penalty box, or listening to one of his favorite books - Z for Zamboni.
Christmas morning was really special this year, even though the kiddos were really sick. Audrey had the vomiting flu and Joshua was recuperating from The Croup. YUCK – I will spare you the details!! And, I won't go too much into detail on Santa since we have it all on video for you to watch. Check it out - hope it brings you as much holiday cheer as it does for us.
