Well, I'm nineteen months over due, but I am going to try and start journaling a little bit each day or so to try and give Josh something fun (or at least I would have thought it was) to read when he get older. I'll try to go back and write stuff about earlier stuff and I'm not sure if I will put it before this entry or just fill it in on some other daily entry.

So yesterday was Halloween, this year Josh was an Oatmeal Bear and damn cute in it. I got home after work as usual and he was on his way back from his first trick-or-treating experience with Mom. Josh had walked down to the Todd Lecy's family's house. Instead of candy, they were giving out bubbles which was fine with Josh because he loves bubbles, but when he saw me, he came running and then just started dumping them out. Luckily it was a kid sized one so Josh didn't get it all over.

We drove around to just a couple houses - Sissy's, Tom and Jen Fitzgerald's, and Becky Chapel's. Of course everyone thought Josh was the cutest, but that is nothing new ;). Not sure how I had such a cute baby but everyone's been saying it since Josh were born and of course both Mom and I agree! By the time we got to Becky's Josh was getting sick of the whole in and out of the car routine so we knew it was our last stop, but as usual he was happy to see Becky and we ran around in her house for a bit. Josh also chased her cat around and were trying to crawl under the bed with it...that was pretty entertaining. Josh looked like he was in the army...one second he would be standing up next to the bed, then in a flash he would drop to his belly and start crawling under the bed.

So we got home and Josh and Mom walked down the block and back while I stayed home and handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters. When Josh got back, he and I handed out candy to a couple visitors - based on his enjoyment doing it, we should have stayed home and did this the whole time. Josh was quite the site to behold...Mom gave him one of his suckers and it was uncanny how much of a natural he was at it. Josh had the sucker in his mouth and would switch it side to side using his mouth only (not his hands at all - they were too busy handing out candy)...by this time I had lost (I like to say 'misplaced') his 'bear head' at Becky's so Josh was there standing in a bear outfit, wearing a winter hat, sucker in mouth, and handing out candy while barking out commands to kids as they came to the door. When the kids were gone he would sit there staring out the window looking for more kids coming. It was pretty hilarious.

After all the Halloween festivities ended, we did our usual routine of dinner, bath and bed. But before we got to dinner, just to note, Grandma called and even though Josh didn't do his normal, full fledged sprint to the phone, I handed it to him and he did his normal conversation - Helloooo...[pause]...[pause]...BYE! Then charging to hang up the phone. Lol But I made him stay on a bit longer, and as Josh was on the phone and we were walking out to give it to Mom, Grandma was asking him what he was for Halloween and she was guessing and I said no, tell her you were a bear...then he did it...the only one of the night (even though we asked a hundred times)..."rrrrooooaaaarrrr!" Even though it was only once, it was worth it!
